I've Been Forced To Adapt

I spent a wonderful week with my family in Rockport, TX. I ate some delcious food, swam in the Gulf of Mexico, took a ferry ride to Port Aranas, TX and I even passed by the highway exit for Victoria, TX (Gimmie A Hell Yeah!). While we were gone, I put a hold on our mail with the post office and shut down my desktop computer in case of a power outage. When I got home a week later, my desktop wouldn't turn back on. I've tried a few troubleshooting techniques, but, to no avail.

Being that my better half likes to characterise me as an old man, who is set in his ways. I'm not happy with this development. Ever since I was contributing to the old Rolling Germans website (which led to my running the whole thing, which led to me creating Splash Mountain, which eventually led to the Lariato) I've always written my reviews and other things the same way. I use Corel WordPerfect, and after I meticulously proofread, spell check and grammar check. I use the simple option to convert the file to a .htm so that I can upload it. I've had to occasionally upgrade the version of WordPerfect that I use, as I've gotten different computers, but it's always been the same thing. It worked and I liked it that way.

Now, I only have my Asus laptop, which uses Windows 10, and has no CD drive for me to install WordPerfect. I'm sure that I could borrow an external CD drive to do it, but because we're having work done on the house, to call it a little disorganised in a few places is an understatement, and I frankly don't even know where the disc is. Since Microsoft Word is already installed, and apparently gives me the option to save a file in .htm format, I'm going this route. So far it's working OK. It's a  pain having to add wrestler names to the spell checker dictionary, since Corel already knew that Fujiwara, Maeda, Takada, Yamazaki, etc. were correct spellings.  But, I did find one thing that makes it easier. There's a proofread option that actually reads the file back to me, so it's a lot easier to catch little typos that might slip past my eyes, such as saying that someone was put 'trough' a table.

I'll need to get a few things to make it easier for me to write, such as a cable to connect the laptop to my monitor, and an adapter to expand my USB slots, since there's only two. But, I just may be able to make this work. Thanks for everything Corel WordPerfect, we had a good 18 years together!
